Collingwood star Beau McCreery has responded to reports he is one of Tasmania’s leading targets for when they enter the competition in 2028.
McCreery, who just turned 25, comes out of contract at the end of next year and AFL Media are reporting the Devils will be prepared to put forward a monster offer of around $7 million over seven years.

The speedster won’t technically be a free agent by then, but Tasmania’s list concessions mean they can sign any out of contract player as a free agent, with the player’s club to be compensated by the AFL.
Speaking the morning after the big offer was revealed, McReery said he was a bit “rattled” when he heard about it.
“I was just as rattled as you when you heard it,” he said on Tiple M’s Mick in the Morning.
“Big word is ‘reportedly’. No (they haven’t reached out) not personally, they haven’t.
“Obviously, it’s pretty big news to hear but I’m still contracted to Collingwood for the next two years so, my eyes are on the prize there and obviously we’ve got a big game this weekend.”
But just as he finished his comment and attempt to change the subject, he and the hosts immediately broke out in laughter.
Titus O’Reily said: “You can’t even get through it without laughing!”
McReery was also quizzed about the offer by Carlton great Brendan Fevola on The Fox.
“I don’t know about an offer… I was about to put the phone down last night and my Mrs tapped me on the shoulder and said, ‘What’s the go here?’” He explained on The Fox’s Fifi, Fev and Nick.
“I’m still contracted. I love the Pies.”
The conversation naturally went to Nick Daicos, who is also reportedly in Tasmania’s sights once his contract ends in 2029.
“I am good mates with Nick. You’d be thinking Nick will take all the money, wouldn’t you?” McCreery said with a laugh.
When quizzed further on the potential money on offer, McCreery added that he’s not sure if he “could leave Melbourne”.
McCreery was drafted by Collingwood with pick No.44 in the 2020 draft.
He played 13 games in his debut season before quickly establishing himself in the Magpies’ best team in 2022 as a speedy pressure forward.
McCreery played all but one game in 2023 as the Pies won the premiership.
Known for his relentless tackling and pressure, he has evolved his game this year with more time in the midfield and has used his pace to devastating effect.
